Okay, so here is the final layout I did from my fun Studio J purchase. This was a layout that was more involved than the others, it was still fun though.
I was given instructions on how to do this layout, because I would've never in a million years thought to do some of the "tricks" they used! Here are the instructions:
Open the Avonlea Kit and choose ‘Backstage’ as your pattern. Select any kit mix. (We will change things up so much that it won’t matter which one you choose.)• Change base cardstock and photo mat to Cocoa.
• Change half circle and scallop pieces to Colonia White Cardstock
• Change paper strips behind photos to Desert Sand
• Change small paper strip on left page to Avonlea Teal Cardstock
• For the remaining large pattern pieces on both pages, change them to the Avonlea Mint+ Chocolate Circle B&T Paper and change the color to Avonlea Green. Change the Background and Texture Intensity to 20%.
• Turnoff the Toggle Accents and delete the Journaling and Title areas.
• Layer Stickease and add Honey buttons (with Colonial White button thread) as desired. Add date to the ‘Date’ Stickease with a textbox.
• Add title as desired. Here I’ve used the Fountain Pen font in two size and colors (Cocoa and Cranberry) in two textboxes.
• Create journaling strips by dragging on the desired amount of textboxes, changing the background color to Colonial White, and journaling in Cocoa. I have used the Fountain Pen font here again. If desired, layer additional textboxes behind to make a mat.
• To make arrow accents simply drag textbox onto your layout. On your keyboard type‘>’several
times. Here I have used the Mainstreet font. Change the color to Lagoon and in the background drop down choose ‘None’ (It defaults to vellum). Drag it to the desired location on your layout. Repeat on opposing page. Next drag another texbox onto your layout and type several periods (‘.’). Change the color to Cocoa, again selecting ‘None’ as your textbox background, and layer it over the arrows already created.
• To create Cranberry bracket border, drag another textbox onto your layout. Type one bracket shape (‘}’) into your textbox. Here I have chosen the Times New Roman font and sized it up to 71. Change the background to ‘None’ and the font color to Cranberry. Rotate the textbox 90 degrees and layer it under the strip of photos on the right page of the layout. Copy and paste the texbox several times to create border*. Select all of the textboxes in your border and ‘Send to Back’. This ensures that none of your brackets are layered over your photos.
*It’s a good idea to select your entire border and align them horizontally to make sure your border is straight.
