Cricut Page

While in Cali my mom asked me to teach a class about Cricut Craft Room.  I had some projects that the ladies made to help learn some techniques in CCR.  I hope they learned a lot!  CCR is so useful when you are doing big projects or even the little ones.  My husband got me a laptop for my birthday so that I can watch movies while I craft and use CCR right at my crafting table (I am lucky- I have my own craft room!  I only have to share it with the loud AC unit and water heater lol)

This is the layout we made:

The Left-handed side was learning to make word art using the different fonts from the CTMH cartridges and the CCR font.  The Right-handed side was learning to group images so you can move them as one image.  I think they'd agree this was the most tedious :) but I think they got it down.

We also made a favor box and switched out the frame on the top of the box for a cupcake shape and make a favor bag with a word cut out on the side.

If I ever did another one, I would totally teach about layers because that is another time-saver that helps out.

Maybe if I can get enough time- I'll do an online tip class.  Hmmm.. my first video?  That might be exciting :)

Here is the CCR file of all 4 projects- have fun!  You have to have Artiste, Artbooking, and Art Philosophy to cut them out.

Cricut Cards

I needed some cards for my workshop, so I got my trusty cricut out and started cutting away.  Here are the cards I came up with:

Fun, fun, fun!  I gave myself the challenge to use black and white and then a little color for each card.  Thank goodness for electronics that cut things out for me because there is no way in anything I would be able to cut that stuff out!

Here are the cards up close:
This one uses fun embossing plates to give it a little more pop.  Bravo indeed!
This would make a great wedding card- see inside...
After you take the band off and open it there's the sentiment
I really wanted something with red and after trying over and over again to get something that looked good here's what I got.  Thank you card for finally turning out!
This workshop will be Saturday, February 16th 9am-12pm and the cost is $5 for 3 cards, or if you also do the BeYOUtiful layout it is $12 for both.

RSVP by Feb. 9th

Materials used:
Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge
Cricut Artiste Cartridge
Cranberry cardstock

Bottle Caps

I love bottle caps.  In fact, when I was little I collected bottle caps.  Back in those days soda came in bottles, so collecting bottle caps was fairly easy.  I envied Bert from Sesame Street with his collection of bottle caps and wondered if I wrote some fan mail if he would send me some of his collection.  At the local science center there was a huge magnet in a bin with thousands of bottle caps and I loved running my hands through the piles of metal lids.

Close To My Heart must know I love bottle caps because they sell them now:

They go along with the Cruisin' paper pack.  And although they don't still smell slightly like diet coke, they are just as fun!

Not only can you use them on your layouts:

You can use them for the Cruisin' Car Game I posted earlier:

And for some more fun you can make them into jewelery!

I punched a hole in the bottle cap with my crop-a-dile

You cut/ punch a 1" circle to put inside the cap and glue it in.  Then I cut a flower using the cricut art philosophy cartridge at 3/4" and glued it in.  I added a jeweled flower and then made sure my hole went through the paper too.

Then I added some liquid glass to seal it all in.  I used some bakers twine to make the necklace.

You can paint over the saying on the bottle cap using the pearl paint and some re-inker.  Or you can cut another 1" circle and glue it to the front with your design on it.  I tried stamping- those 1" hostess stamps are the perfect size- but the liquid glass makes it bleed.  You'll have to use staz-on ink I think or just don't add the liquid glass.

So go have fun with some bottle caps!!  And if you have some extra feel free to send them my way ;)

Cheap Cricut Tool

Do you own a cricut?

If you answered yes- one of these will come in handy:

A dish scraper?

Yup.

You can get these at the dollar store or walmart or wherever.  Use this to scrape all the extra pieces of paper off your mat after you done!  So much easier than using your nail and much cheaper than buying the Cricut brand tool set.

You're welcome. :)

(Thanks Chris Hill for this tip!)

Sneek Peak

Workshop up ahead!  I LOVE decorating for a birthday party- here is a birthday banner that was so much fun to make:
I used the SPRAY PENS from CTMH and had fun creating the unique designs on the banners which I cut out using my cricut and the ART PHILOSOPHY cartridge.

I'll do this as a workshop coming soon!  I'll have everything pre-cut and after you've learned how to use the spray pens you'll get to take one home to play with.  And there will be bonus scrapbook layouts included!  This workshop will be TONS of fun!

Keep your eye on this website for the date and price that I will post later.  You won't want to miss this!
